How To Determine If You’re Covered

Instructions:

If you have a Secure Access Washington, or SAW Account, set up, you’re just a few minutes away from being able to apply for WA Cares benefits!

Here’s how to do that.

  1. Sign into your SAW Account, then click on “My Services.”

  2. Select “Add Services,” then “Add Service by name”

  3. Find the “filter services” search bar and type in WA Cares. Select “Add.”

  4. Next, you’ll answer a series of questions to confirm your identity. These questions will be about things like cars you’ve owned and previous addresses you’ve lived at. Once you’ve answered these questions, WA Cares will be in your list of services!

  5. Scroll back to the top of the page and click on “My Services.” You can now find your WA Cares Benefits Account!

  6. To access this account, you will be asked to login again and provide a verification code that was sent either to your email address or your phone. So check your email or phone, then enter the access code.

  7. You are now about to access your WA Cares Benefits account. Click on “Set up your WA Cares account.” During this section, you’ll enter basic information like your pronouns, address, date of birth and social security number, language, how you like to receive notifications, and other things.

  8. Once you’ve reached the end of this section, click the “Go Back to Dashboard” button.

  9. The next screen is where you can see your projected benefit amount, access your annual statement, and other information.

  10. Now that you have your WA Cares dashboard set up, the first step is to determine if you meet the first requirement by being a WA Cares contributor through your employer.

  11. Scroll down to 1. See if you meet the contribution requirement and click “Request a contribution requirement”

  12. You will be asked if you’ve used more than one social security number, TIN, or name and you’ll be asked to confirm your address and phone number. You will also be asked other questions about your veteran or tribal status, your gender, sex, race, and ethnicity.

  13. Then, review the information you’ve entered to be sure it’s correct and scroll to click “submit.”

  14. The Contribution Determination letter will look like this. If you think the notification is in error you can call 844-227-3492

  15. The next step is to go back to the dashboard to submit your application for benefits so you can actually receive help!
