How to Apply
Instructions:
The first step to apply for WA Cares benefits, is to create a Secure Access Washington or SAW account. Before beginning, keep in mind you may already have a SAW account from other benefits you've applied for. If you think you might, you can get a reminder of your account information using the Get Help button. For this video, let's pretend you don't already have a SAW account, and we'll get you signed up.
Start by going to secureaccess.wa.gov, which will look like the page in the video.
Then select Sign Up.
Your next step is to enter your information into all these boxes.
You'll have to scroll down on this page to choose a username and password. Make sure at this step that you jot down the information you used to sign up. You'll have to remember your username, email, and password in the future.
Select Create My Account.
The next page you see will look like the one in the video.
SAW has just sent an email to the address you used to sign up. So open your email account and check for your new messages. The email might look like the one in the video.
Next thing you'll do is just click this link.
Clicking that link gets you to the page in the video, and now there's just one thing left to do, which is to sign in for real.
So click that login button, enter the username and password you just set, then click submit and you should be in the system.
You'll get this access reminder with some actions you could take. You can take these actions now, but to see your benefits, just go click My Services.
Now you're in SAW, and you can start applying for your WA Cares benefits.
